Sircilla: The textile town infamous for weavers’ suicides has witnessed yet another suicide on Monday. The suicide note which the 45-year-old Domala Ramesh left behind him narrates a sad state of affairs of the weavers in Sircilla.

Ramesh, a resident of Nehru Nagar, had been working in a powerloom. His wife Sharada, rolls out beedis to contribute to the family income. Ramesh hanged himself to death from a tree near Manair river.

The suicide letter addressed to Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development KT Rama Rao and District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar allegedly written by Ramesh said that he was caught in a debt trap following his elder daughter’s marriage last year.

It’s learnt that he had to borrow Rs 3 lakh for the expenses of his daughter’s marriage. Of late, he was under pressure from the financiers to repay the debt.

Ramesh, who barely gets Rs 1,500 a week, was also not in a position to provide healthcare to his wife Sharada who is not doing well.

He urged KTR and Collector to take care of his family. Incidentally, KTR was in the town to take part in some developmental works.
