Home guard axed to death

Palair: A home guard, Banoth Balu, of Chandru Thanda in Tirumalayapalem mandal of Khammam district, was axed to death on Saturday night by one Saidulu of Gangabanda thanda. Family dispute was said to be the motive.

According to police, the dispute arose after Balu’s son, Nagaraju, who was married to one Rangamma, daughter of Malsur of Gangabanda thanda, ran away with another woman, after failing to sire a child despite being married for five years. A police complaint was lodged by the family members in this regard. Meanwhile, both Balu and Saidulu went on a search to locate Nagaraju.
After failing to get any information about Nagaraju, Balu and Saidulu reached Gangabanda. Later, both got involved in a tiff following which Saidulu attacked Balu with an axe resulting in instant death of the latter. Saidulu later surrendered in the local police station.
Khammam Deputy Superintendent of Police Suresh Kumar said a case was registered and Saidulu was taken into custody.
