The High Court at Hyderabad overruled the objections raised by its Registry and directed the numbering of a writ petition on the affairs of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).

The division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akhter gave this direction on the petition moved by Govind Reddy, a practising advocate and also a cricketer, who had complained that the HCA was not acting as per the Lodha Committee guidelines.

The Registry had raised objections to the petition, saying the matter must be taken up at the Supreme Court. It was placed before the bench on Tuesday for a decision.

Senior counsel S Niranjan Reddy, appearing for the petitioner, complained that the HCA was not acting as per the Lodha Committee guidelines while preparing to host a test match against Bangladesh and that the affairs of the Association were under a huge cloud, including serious charges of corruption.
