Hyderabad: A section of CPI (M) workers from Warangal on Monday joined the TRS. The migration of the CPI (M) workers to the TRS happened a day after the former held a massive public meeting on the city outskirts.

Addressing the activists led by Mettu Srinivas, the Minister for Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao said Chief Minister is a real communist. KCR, he said, has launched several innovative schemes for the welfare of the people.

He said TRS did not have the word ‘Communist’ in its name, but KCR was implementing the agenda of the Communists and hence he was a true Communist leader in India. The government, he said, was spending Rs 40,000 crore for the welfare of the poor in the State.

The previous Congress government had spent Rs 830 crore for paying pensions, but TRS government was spending Rs 5,300 crore, which was seven times higher. These are the days when a chief minister’s grandson and the hostel students eat the same quality rice. The Minister also referred to the schemes like Kalyana Lakshmi, double bedroom and other new schemes announced by the government in the budget.

KTR said even the Kerala Chief Minister P Vijayan had appreciated the initiatives taken by TRS government, but perhaps due to political compulsions a little while later he spoke against the government at the public meeting. He said that the CPI (M) was always against Telangana statehood. They opposed it in Parliament and now they are coming in the way of Bangaru Telangana, he said.
