Manthani: In the sensational Madhukar death case, which kicked off a lot of controversy and hogged national limelight, Ramagundam Commissioner of Police Vikramjeet Duggal transferred circle inspector Prabhakar and replaced him with Natesh.
Meanwhile, investigation into the case has picked up momentum with the Commissioner appointing the Assistant Commissioner Sindhu Sarma as investigation officer. The police, led by Peddapalli DCP Vijayender Reddy, searched houses of several suspects, including the relatives of the local MLA Putta Madhu, and took several persons into the custody. The police also collected call data from mobile phones of the suspects.
Meanwhile, the Dalits are eagerly awaiting the second post-mortem on Madhukar slated for Friday. However, there was no let up in the demonstrations by Dalits seeking justice. Also, the issue figured prominently in the social media. It may be recalled that the first post-mortem listed the cause of death as suicide.
Quoting Madhukar’s mother’s saying, civil liberties leaders said that local legislator Putta Madhu threatened to kill Madhukar summoning him to his home. The police are not able to zero in on the cause of death – love affair or any other cause.
If the cause is love affair, the million dollar question is why the police chose to respond rather belatedly on the complaint filed with them by the girl’s parents. Why the police failed to gather the call data from the girl’s mobile with regard to her calling up Madhukar’s brother intimating him of serious condition of Madhukar.
