Mahbubnagar: The authorities of Palamuru University (PU) have initiated various steps to streamline administration so as to boost higher education in the district. As part of this initiative, Prof Raja Ratnam, Vice Chancellor, in coordination with Pandurangareddy, registrar of PU, started the process of assessing the capabilities of faculty. They will accordingly allocate responsibilities to each department so as to run the administration smoothly without any issues.

Right from the inception in the year 2008, the Palamuru University had been facing something many problems with regard to administration, provision of facilities, inadequate infrastructure and internal politics. However, to overcome all these issues, the State government had appointed Prof Raja Ratnam, as the Vice Chancellor of the university and since then there had been drastic changes observed in the university.

“We want to bring a complete change in the University. Our focus is on improving facilities in the university and in the affiliated post graduate colleges. We are also focusing on the re-organisation of the administration in the university. A regular assessment of teaching faculty is done to find out their strengths and capabilities of handling the departments. Based on the outcomes of this assessment the best able faculty will be given the responsibility of handling respective departments so as to enable smooth functioning of the university,” the VC said.

Earlier, the student unions and politics among the lecturers gave rise to regular agitations and strikes by students. Due to these agitations there used to be regular disruption of classes which ultimately affected the quality of education. The university had started the assessment of lectures to overcome such issues and to study their performance.

Infrastructure development:

The university management is focusing on developing the infrastructure of the university, as the State government had allocated adequate funds this year, particularly the affiliated PG colleges at Kollapur in Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy and Gadwal districts’.In addition to this, the university officials are also preparing a detailed project report for the construction of a Guest House, Healthcare centre and Hostel facilities for boys and girls in the university campus.

“We are planning to utilise all the funds allocated to the university within this year to ensure that all the construction of hostels for boys and girls at the PG centres of all the 3 districts is completed this year. We have already started preparing a detailed report on the construction faculties and very soon the works will commence,” VC said.
