Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, who also holds Education portfolio, directed officials of the residential schools to maintain one menu in all residential schools from this academic year.Reviewing the affairs of residential schools with the officials on Monday, he said that all residential schools should provide the same facilities to the inmates. The uniform menu should be prepared and sent to all the schools.
He said the menus of the residential schools were different from school to school and this should be streamlined. Non-vegetarian dishes should be served every Sunday. Common academic calendar should be prepared for all the schools.
Girls of residential schools should be given health kits which would have all the items needed by them, from this academic year, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the officials.
Srihari wanted one Woman Degree Residential College to be set up at each revenue division and one Tribal Degree Residential College at the areas where the tribal population is more, from this academic year. The review meeting was attended by SC Welfare Minister G Jagadish Reddy, BC Welfare Minister J Ramanna and Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandulal. Srihari said as the Chief Minister desired encouragement to women education, woman degree residential colleges should be set up at each revenue division.
He said woman degree colleges exclusively for tribals should be set up wherever their population is high. Courses in the woman degree colleges should be planned in a manner that they provide employment. The Deputy Chief Minister also appointed a committee to identify employable courses under the chairmanship of Special Chief Secretary Ajay Misra.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed Ajay Misra to submit the report within 15 days and to find available courses in the sectors like agriculture, nursing, veterinary and IT fields that could provide employment.
The issue that whether these courses could be included in woman degree colleges or there would be a need to set up special institutions for teaching these courses should also be examined by the committee. Srihari said the Chief Minister wanted strengthening of SC, ST and BC study circles. The study circles not only train the students for Civil Services exams but also for other national and State level competitive examinations.
He decided that one IAS officer should be appointed to manage the affairs of study circles. He wanted a report on this in 15 days. The Deputy Chief Minister told the officials to check whether the newly-established residential schools had all the amenities. They should be provided with the required amenities by the beginning of academic year, he said.
