Hyderabad: Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy on Monday alleged that the opposition parties were raising hue and cry as they were unable to digest the developmental works taken up by the TRS government.
Addressing a press conference here at the TRSLP office, Naini said that the opposition parties were groping in the dark as they had no issue to agitate about. Hence they have come up with the demand that Dharna Chowk should not be shifted.
The fact is that the Chief Minister had never said that the Dharna Cchowk will be relocated. The locals wanted it to be removed to another place. Even the morning walkers wanted the Dharna Chowk to be shifted.
The opposition parties instead of staging a peaceful protest went berserk and resorted to violence, attacked them with rods and damaged chairs. They attacked the colony residents who were protesting peacefully and they should apologise for the same.
Replying to a question, the Home Minister said that the police personnel in mufti were collecting placards, which were given to them by some of the locals before leaving the place and there was nothing wrong in it.
Regarding the Khammam issue where farmers were handcuffed, Naini said that the police officials responsible were suspended.
Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav said that he would cut the tongue of those who dare to talk against the Chief Minister or his family members. He questioned where was the need to bring iron rods to the Dharna Chowk if it was a peaceful protest. He said that some of the miscreants deliberately attacked the locals who were protesting peacefully.
MLC Karne Prabhakar said that the State Government did not take any decision with regard to shifting of Dharna Chowk. He said that issue was pending before the High Court and a final decision would be taken by the court.
He demanded the Hyderabad City Police to take stern action against those involved in the violence. Prabhakar claimed that the local residents have been demanding shifting of Dharna Chowk for the last 10 years.
He said it was wrong on the part of Communist leaders to give a call to capture Dharna Chowk. He also held other opposition parties responsible for the violence that took place on Monday.
He accused the Telangana Joint Action Committee and other organisations of provoking people on the issue.
