Bhadrachalam: On the State Formation Day, the office of 108 Services was vacated from the pilgrims’ rest house Sowmitri Sadan following the orders of the temple executive officer P Prabhakar Srinivas.
However, the EO relented after the media took up the issue and gave two days time to the 108 Services staff to find alternative arrangements.
The overenthusiastic temple staff threw office files, furniture and even medicines out lock, stock and barrel. The medical emergency service was allotted Sowmitri Sadan by the then executive officer K Ramachandra Mohan in 2013.
They were even given parking facility for the ambulances. Since then the office of 108 Services has been continuing in the Sowmitri Sadan.
The new executive officer Prabhakar Srinivas enquired recently as to why the office of 108 Services was given in the pilgrims rest house which is discomfort to the pilgrims. He issued a notice to the management of 108 Services to vacate the premises in 15 days. When the office was not vacated even after fifteen days, the temple staff got the office vacated shifting office utilities.
The 108 Services in-charge for Bhadradri-Kothagudem K Venkateswarlu told The Hans India that their services were equally available to the pilgrims and they had tried in vain to contact the EO to explain their version.
After the media swung into action and reported the matter and the social media went viral against the action of the officer, the EO relented and gave them two days time to make alternative arrangements.
It is notable, that the EO did not ask the Bomb Squad which had been staying in another room in another building to vacate the place.
The Executive Officer told The Hans India that notice had been served fifteen days back to vacate the premises and when they did not respond, he was compelled to take action. However, they are given two more days to make alternative arrangements, he said adding that he would think over the issue after two days.
Referring to the Bomb Squad, he said that the Bomb Squad has been staying in another building which is not fit for the pilgrims’ stay. Anyway, the Bomb Squad assured him that they would make good of their stay on the premises.
