Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) is all set to plant one crore plants under Haritha Haram plantation by the end of June. They have a target to plant 2.5 crore saplings this year.

The HMDA Commissioner T Chiranjeevulu said that they are ready with the action plan for planting the saplings in the limits of HMDA and they would start planting by this month end. He said of the 2.5 crore plants, one crore will be planted by HMDA, 50 lakhs will be given to GHMC and 50 lakhs will be handed over to district collectorates. The remaining 50 lakhs will be planted next year as they want grown up plants, he said.

Giving details about the action plan for planting saplings for 2017-2018, Chiranjeevulu said that as many as 50,000 will be planted beside Service Roads, 1.55 lakh at MCW, 45,000 at Railway Corridor, 75,000 at interchanges, 45,000 at medians, 20 lakh at refurbishment of ORR medians, 7 lakh at greenery development of Musi river front at Uppal Bagayath, 4 lakh for greenery development of lakes.

Further, he said that 5 lakh plants would be planted in municipal areas, one lakh at block plantations in HMDA, one lakh at avenue plantings on radial roads, one lakh at development and refurbishment of rotaries at ORR, 10 lakh plants in HMDA layouts, 5 lakh at development of theme parks, 2 lakh at new MLA quarters and 15 lakh plants would be given to villages.

He also added that 5 lakh plants will be refurbishment of BPP parks, 5 lakh at YTDA area, 30,000 at Necklace Road, 2 lakhs at Railway Corridor using Bengaluru method and 12.5 lakhs will be distributed in nurseries, temples and colonies.
