Hyderabad: Congress leader and former MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy aka Jagga Reddy kept his promise. He auctioned the gold bracelet presented to him by senior leader V Hanumantha Rao, at Somajiguda Press Club here on Friday. Mahender Reddy of Krishi Builders got it for Rs 20 lakh.

Jagga Reddy said Rs 1 lakh each from the amount he received by auctioning the bracelet would be disbursed among the 11 chilli farmers who were arrested by the police at Khammam and the remaining Rs 9 lakh to the farmers of Warangal district.

It may be mentioned here that V Hanumantha Rao told Rahul Gandhi at the public meeting held at Sangaredy recently that Jagga Redy had successfully organised the meeting by spending his own money.

Rahul then questioned Hanumantha Rao why he could not give anything to Jagga Reddy. When V Hanumantha Rao said he had nothing to offer, Rahul pointed to the bracelet on the hand of the former and said he could present it to Jagga Reddy.

Thereupon, V Hanumantha Rao presented the bracelet to Jagga Reddy, who then declared that he would auction the ornament and give the amount realised to the farmers. As promised, Jagga Reddy auctioned the bracelet on Friday.
