Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday laid foundation stone for a swanky seven-storeyed orphanage building Anees-ul-Gurbha at Nampally which is meant for Muslim children. The building is to be constructed at a cost of Rs 20 crore.

Anees-ul-Gurbha, which was set up in 1921, is in dilapidated condition. In the recent expansion and road widening programme, about 191 yards of the complex was lost. To compensate this, government has allotted 4,000 square yards of place and sanctioned Rs 20 crore for constructing new complex.

Designs have been prepared for the seven-storeyed building with a plinth area of about 1.53 lakhs square feet. First two floors would be used for commercial complex and the rest five for shelter to orphan children. In addition to making provision for shelter to 500 persons, a school would also be part of this complex. Those who study from first class to degree will be provided shelter here.

Interacting with the management of the orphanage, the Chief Minister explained in detail about the measures taken by the government to provide better education for socially and economically backward Muslim minorities and various welfare measures it had introduced in the last three years.

Deputy Chief Minister Md Mahmood Ali, MP Asaduddin Owaisi, MLAs Jaffer Hussain, Balala, Ahmed Pasha Quadri, Moujam Khan, MLCs Rajeswara Reddy, Md Salim, Prabhakar, government advisor AK Khan and others participated in the programme.
