The State government, which has been focusing on welfare schemes to revive rural economy by giving boost to community and traditional professions like sheep rearing and fishing, on Sunday decided to go ahead a step further by offering similar help to some other communities including barbers and dhobis in a big way from July.

Hyderabad: The State government, which has been focusing on welfare schemes to revive rural economy by giving boost to community and traditional professions like sheep rearing and fishing, on Sunday decided to go ahead a step further by offering similar help to some other communities including barbers and dhobis in a big way from July.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is all set to launch a new scheme in July for Rajakas (Dhobi) and Nayi Brahmins (barbers) communities by offering them required financial assistance for latest equipment and modern tools to set up new shops. Finance Minister Eatala Rajender and BC Welfare, Forest and Environment Minister Jogu Ramanna said they would launch a welfare scheme for dhobis and barbers in July.

They held a meeting at the Secretariat here on Sunday afternoon and discussed at length on modalities to implement the scheme for these two communities. Most Backward Caste Corporation Chairman T Srinivas, Principal Secretary Ashok Kumar and BC Corporation Managing Director Mallaiah Bhattu attended the meeting.

Later, Rajender told media persons that the government was willing to extend all help and cooperation to these two communities by giving them some equipment and components that would help their profession grow gradually. The Chief Minister would distribute them modern equipment and latest tools of their profession in July, he said.
