Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Corporation Limited (SCCL) completed planting 4,24,285 saplings by July 13. The public sector unit which started its third phase from July 1 successfully planted 50,000 saplings on Thursday alone.

The SCCL which has set a target of planting 1 crore saplings has decided to plant 16 lakh saplings in Ramagundam alone. Khammam (Sattupally) – 2 lakhs, Bhadradri-Kothagudem and Peddapalli - 14 lakh, Jayashankar-Bhupalpally - 12 lakh, Mancherial – 10 lakh and Komarambheem – 6 lakh, saplings will be planted in third phase.

Chairman-cum-Managing Director of SCCL N Sridhar recently said the target plan is to plant 1 crore saplings in all sectors during the third phase of the Haritha Haram programme.

In all, 11 general managers were appointed area-wise to make the flagship programme of the Telangana government a grand success. In the second phase of the programme held last year, the SCCL had planted 60 lakh saplings in 819 sectors.
The MD said the Corporation was concerned about protecting the environment. He called upon SCCL staff members to take part in the programme and make it a grand success.
