Hyderabad: The issue of Mahabubabad MLA Banoth Shankar Naik misbehaving with District Collector Preethi Meena came in for condemnation by the IAS Officers Association who met here on Thursday evening.

It is learnt that the District Collector explained to them as to what exactly happened on Wednesday and why she was upset. The Association passed a resolution condemning the MLA’ s behaviour and thanked the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for reacting to the incident immediately. The IAS officers decided to meet the Chief Secretary on Friday and take up the issue with him.

Meanwhile, TTDP working president A Revanth Reddy demanded that cases should be booked against MLA Shankar Naik under the Nirbhaya Act for misbehaving with Mahabubabad District Collector Preeti Meena.

Addressing media here on Thursday, the TTDP leader demanded Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao to suspend the MLA from the party and personally apologise to the Collector.

Coming down heavily on the police for treating the ruling party MLA with kids gloves and letting him off after taking signature from him within two minutes, Revanth Reddy questioned whether this was the fate meted to a complaint lodged by a first-class magistrate and District Collector in the State.

He said that the women’s wing of the party would lodge a complaint with the National Commission for Women and knock on the doors of the court, if needed.
