All set for development of Kaleshwaram temple
Finally, it seems that hurdles have been cleared for the development of Kaleshwara Mukteeshwara Swamy temple, said to be Dakshin Kasi, located on the banks of the confluence of rivers Godavari, Pranahita and Saraswathi. Kaleshwaram (Bhupalpally): Finally, it seems that hurdles have been cleared for the development of Kaleshwara Mukteeshwara Swamy temple, said to be Dakshin Kasi, located on the banks of the confluence of rivers Godavari, Pranahita and Saraswathi. It has been more than 14 months since the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had promised to develop this unique temple where two Shiva Lingas are found on a single pedestal on the lines of Yadadri.
It may be noted here that the temple attracts huge number of pilgrims from the other side of the Godavari, especially Sironcha in Maharashtra. The temple has an assessable income of close to Rs 4 crore per annum. Since the high-level bridge across Godavari came up last year, the footfall to the temple increased by leaps and bound.
It may be noted here that Chief Minister, who was here to lay the foundation stone for the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) on May 2, 2016, had instructed the authorities to prepare a master plan that is suitable to the needs of next five decades.
Although the Advisor to Government of Telangana KV Ramana Chary, who visited the temple soon after Chief Minister’s promise said efforts were on to tap the tourism potential of the region, there was no forward movement after that.
District Collector A Murali said, “The government has released Rs 25 crore for the development of the temple. We will call for tenders finalising estimates within a fortnight.”
Manthani MLA Putta Madhukar said the plans are afoot to augment the facilities in tune with the growing popularity to the temple. This apart, the government also has plans to develop eco-tourism circuit between Mahadevapur and Kaleshwaram on par with international standards.
The estimates of different works: - Anivetti Mandapam (Rs 1 crore), 100-room lodge (Rs 8 crore) Abhisheka Mandapam (Rs 70 lakh), Kitchen (Rs 1.10 crore), Annadana hall (Rs 1.10 crore), dormitory (Rs 1 crore), Apara Karma Mandapam on the banks of Godavari (Rs 1.50 crore), development of Yamagundam lake (Rs 65 lakh). This apart, Rs 1 crore has been earmarked for the development of a park.
It may be noted here that Minister for Tourism A Chandulal inaugurated the Haritha Guest House constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.6 crore recently. This apart, work on development of a tourism park with an outlay of Rs 1 crore is in progress under the aegis of Forest department. This apart, the Maharashtra government has agreed to provide Rs 15 crore for the development of the temple.
