The nationwide campaign is intended to mount pressure on the Central government to bring in law to ensure bank loans to farmers and minimum support price for agriculture produce.

The CPI (M) would launch a campaign in support of the demand by the farmers for waiving of farm loans, Raghavulu wondered why the Centre expressed its opposition to waive farm loans when it had written off Rs 1.56 lakh crore loans owed by industrialists who included multinational companies. The party would also bring pressure to bear on the Centre to create two crore jobs a year as promised in the BJP’s manifesto in the run up to the 2014 general elections.

The CPI (M) had also decided to extend its support to the nationwide protest by the trade unions on August 8, The party would oppose tooth and nail the Centre’s onslaught against public sector units and public sector banks.
