Employees kept SCR at top position on Indian Railways: GM

He was addressing the inaugural session of the 47th Annual General Council of South Central Railway Mazdoor Union (SCRMU) at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Thursday.
Going into the performance of the Zone, the General Manager highlighted the fact that it has been continuously positive including in the current financial year 2017-18 too. There is a growth of 12% in the gross originating earnings between April to July 2017, with the revenue reaching Rs. 4320 crore. There is a rise in both freight and passenger traffic, he informed. The employees are instrumental in the Zone attaining this achievement, Vinod Kumar Yadav acknowledged.
Giving credit to Sankara Rao for his matured leadership of the Union, the General Manager stated that the issues focused by the SCRMU have always been to benefit the railway men and women at large.
Speaking on the pro-active role of the administration towards the career progression and welfare of railway employees and their family members, Vinod Kumar Yadav stated that there is no delay in awarding promotions wherever due, so that the employees get on-time benefit. So far as the Compassionate Ground appointments are concerned, cases are being handled with a lot of sympathy and genuine concern. To meet the medical needs of railway employees and their families, Railway hospitals and Health Units are being upgraded with the best facilities and doctors to serve this purpose. More hospitals have been recognised as referral Hospitals at new locations, so as to facilitate the best medical attention at the nearest places for our employees, the General Manager added.
Speaking on the success of welfare oriented measures, Yadav acknowledged the positive approach and contribution of SCR Mazdoor Union in the successful conduct of Passport Mela “Meekosam” and Job Mela “Manakosam”, exclusively for SCR employees and their families. In the Passport Mela at Secunderabad, over 5000 people were able to get their Passports very conveniently. In the Job Mela at Secunderabad, 23000 candidates were registered and 14000 candidates attended the selection process. A total of 5709 job offers were given at the Mela, which include 1321 spot selections while 4388 were shortlisted for the final round of selections. The happiness on the faces and the satisfaction of our employees has encouraged us to plan for more such events at other places on the Zone in the near future, he said. SCR is also planning to tie up with agencies under the Ministry of Skill Development, to impart free skill development programs to the unemployed youth to get job opportunities, the General Manager informed.
All India Railway Men’s Federation General Secretary Shiva Gopal Mishra, SCRMU General Secretary Sankara Rao and President K. Srinivas and SCR Chief Personnel Officer N.V. Ramana Reddy were amongst those who spoke on the occasion.
