TPCC general secretary Dr Sravan Dasoju has alleged that the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR), approved by previous UPA Government, remained a non-starter due to the wrong priorities of the TRS Government.
Hyderabada: TPCC general secretary Dr Sravan Dasoju has alleged that the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR), approved by previous UPA Government, remained a non-starter due to the wrong priorities of the TRS Government.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, Sravan accused the Minister for IT and Municipal Administration K T Rama Rao of sabotaging the ITIR project which could have provided direct and indirect employment to lakhs of youth in Telangana State. "The selfish and dubious priorities of TRS Government are destroying the fortunes of Telangana State," he said.
Blaming KTR for the meaningless revision of DPR and HMDA Master Plan, he said that the Central Government was delaying the project for want of State government’s approval. "KTR is answerable for such irrational decision of revising the approved DPR. Just for the heck of having the brand of KCR, the DPR was revised and it was a foolish act," he said.
Sravan recalled that the previous Congress Government had already identified 50,000 acres of land in five zones in and around Hyderabad for the ITIR projects.
The Congress leader said that the ITIR was designed to attract global investments of more than Rs 2.20 lakh crore both in IT/ ITeS and the Electronic Hardware Manufacturing sectors. It had the employment potential of 15.4 lakh direct jobs and around 54 lakh indirect jobs. Altogether, direct and indirect revenues would have been around Rs 7 lakh crore. "With ITIR, Telangana State would have emerged as another China, Korea or Silicon Valley of USA”, he lamented.
When crores of rupees were available for irrigation and Mission Bhagiratha, Sravan asked KTR as to why he was unable to mobilise funds for the ITIR? "If Government of India, is unwilling to support either this should be fought in Parliament or the TRS government should be able to allocate that much of funds. Of the total outlay of around Rs 13,000 crore, the Central Government's share is only about Rs 3000 crore. The remaining amount needs to be spent by the State Government," he said.
He alleged that TRS Government was allocating huge amounts of funds for irrigation and Mission Bhagiratha projects so that ruling party leaders could fetch commissions to them.
He said that the tone and tenor of the letter written by KTR to the Centre was only to indulge in mere blame game. He opined that the KTR's letter implicitly indicates that he wants an official communication from the Centre that the ITIR project was permanently shelved so that he could wriggle out from his failure.
Sravan also said that much hyped T-Hub was only used to boost the image the KTR and not to promote entrepreneurship. He demanded KTR to furnish full details of start-up companies, investments attracted and the employment generated from the T-Hub so far. He also asked KTR to explain to the people of Telangana about his foreign visits and what has he achieved.
