Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy on Tuesday received the Global Agriculture Leadership-2017 Award conferred on Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao by the Indian Council of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) recently.

New Delhi: Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy on Tuesday received the Global Agriculture Leadership-2017 Award conferred on Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao by the Indian Council of Food and Agriculture (ICFA) recently.

KCR was selected for the award by the ICFA for his contribution to agriculture development, reforms and for the change he brought into the life of farmers of Telangana

The ICFA studied the agricultural practices in various states and compared the measures adopted by different governments. Telangana stood out with its round the clock power supply to the farm sector, supply of fertilizers on time, interest-free loans up to Rs 1 lakh to the farmers, modernization of irrigation sector and taking up of new projects and financial help of Rs 4,000 to each of the farmers for kharif and rabi crops, etc.

On the occasion, Pocharam said his government was committed to bring out qualitative change in the lives of farmers and the Chief Minister had proclaimed his ambition to see the farmers as kings. The state government will constitute coordination committees for farmers at village, mandal and district-levels soon to stand by the farming community, the minister said.

Special representative of Telangana government at New Delhi S Venugopala Chari and Commissioner of Agriculture Department Jagan Mohan attended the programme.
