Babus warned against using civic staff for domestic work

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao on Tuesday warned the officials of stern action if they resort to using the municipality workers for domestic work. The MAUD Minister chaired a review meeting of the department here on Tuesday.

He said the government would resolve the issues of the workers. The officials and public representatives forcing the workers to work in their homes would face severe action henceforth, he said. If it comes to the notice that Commissioners are using the workers for personal work then they would be suspended with immediate effect. “The workers should work for the city and not in the homes of the officials or public representatives. They deserve respect,” Rama Rao said.

The Minister assured the workers of providing health cards and also promised to take their salary issue to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He asked the officials to come up with a proposal to bring health card for the workers.

The Minister also asked the officials to prepare a report on increasing the salaries of the workers in Nagarpanchayats. He said there would not be any burden in the towns as they have enough revenues but increasing salaries in the Nagarpanchayats would be a burden.
