Hyderabad: Information Technology and Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao said that the government has been taking steps to provide better training to the engineering students living in the remote parts of the State.

Speaking at a meeting with the principals of the engineering colleges, the Minister said that Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) programme is implemented to equip the students with skills to get jobs. The Minister wanted the cooperation of engineering and pharmacy colleges in providing enough skills to the students.

KTR said that colleges with poor standards have been closed as the government gives priority to standards than numbers. With the efforts of the government, the education in engineering colleges has bettered.

He said that according to the industrialists most of the students coming out of the colleges were weak in communication skills. The students would not get jobs unless they are given internship training in the industries for a year. The colleges should work in this direction, he added.

The Minister promised that providing internship in the government departments would be examined. He said that the colleges should organise various programmes in their campuses to help the students.

KTR said that due to commercial attitude of some colleges, the students were at loss, and the colleges should hold training programmes for the benefit of rural students.
