Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday unveiled his grand plan to bring ‘Ksheera Viplavam’ (White Revolution) in Telangana.

Addressing a meeting of the members of Vijaya, Mulkanur and Nalgonda & Ranga Reddy District Dairy Development Societies at Pragati Bhavan here, KCR announced the distribution of a buffalo each to around two lakh dairy farmers, who are members of five cooperative dairies.

Cattle will be supplied at a subsidised rate of 75 per cent to SC/ST dairy farmers and 50% to others. Each buffalo costs around Rs 50,000-Rs 60,000 in the market. As a prelude, Chief Minister announced an incentive of Rs 4 per litre to the farmers of the dairy societies. This would put an additional burden of Rs 400- Rs 500 crore on the government, he said.

He said Rs 4 per litre incentive would be implemented from September 24 and the distribution of buffaloes would commence after two months. The Vijaya Dairy Development Society, Mulkanur Dairy Development Society, Nalgonda and Ranga Reddy Districts Dairy Development Societies and Karimnagar will be given top priority in the schemes to be announced.

Referring to the milk production in the state, KCR said all the three dairy development societies put together are producing just about 7 lakh litres of milk as of now.

Karnataka is supplying 6 lakh litres, AP 4 lakh litres, and Gujarat 2 lakh litres to Telangana. The milk being produced in Telangana is a very small percentage when compared to the demand of 1 crore litres, he stressed upon the need to take up a major programme in the milk production and marketing to the level of another milk revolution (Kesheera Viplavam) or flood of milk (Pala Velluava) in the state. He said he would personally formulate the scheme.

The Chief Minister explained to the gathering about the reasons behind implementing the land records rectification and purification programme and how it will eradicate the endless litigation and problems pertaining to the rights over the lands and how it decreases the law and order problems. He also explained the flagship programmes like Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Single Women Pension Scheme, Asara Pensions, etc and asked them to explain to the people in their respective villages.

KCR said that he too wants the farmers to do a favour to him. He asked every farmer to plant 6 saplings and name each sapling after one of their family members so that it would be the responsibility of those people to take care of the plants by watering regularly. To this, the gathering of over 8000 dairy farmers responded positively by giving a thunderous applause.
Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav, MP Gutha Sukhender Reddy and Vijaya Dairy Development Corporation Chairman Loka Bhoomreddy were present.
