Hyderabad: Gram Panchayats in the State will soon get their own Administration Management Software (AMS) to transact their official business.

According to sources, the government had initiated developing software for the management of all the gram panchayats in the State.

For this, officials from the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development (PR&RD) department had visited several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and others, to take stock of the IT initiatives adopted by those states.

Speaking to The Hans India, a senior official said, “Of all the states visited, the department had favoured the IT initiative adopted by the State of Madhya Pradesh.”

Because, the IT initiative rolled out by that State had given top priority to maintain transparency factor. And, every paise of the village panchayat spent and received gets automatically accounted for and properly recorded. This is besides, taking care of all other official business of the civic body, he added.

Following the Madhya Pradesh model, the State government had kick started the development of AMS for the panchayats in the State. The Centre had asked the states to adopt the model of Ease of Doing Business (EDB) in their IT initiatives to empower the village panchayat.

As per the new guidelines, the village revenue and tax administration and service delivery to the citizens have to be given top priority. It had forced the State government to re-design its software under development.

As of now, the village panchayats are able to issue birth and death certificates through Mee Seva centres. However, there are several other components like approval of building plans, permissions to new layouts, house tax collection, mutation and several others, for which, modules have been developed.

“Development of modules for approval of building and permissions to new layouts and few more components are in the final stages of development,” the sources said.

Once the development of AMS has been completed people in the villages need not go around the offices for approvals and permissions.
