Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation locked horns with Roads and Buildings Department over Road under Bridge (RuB) between Begumpet and Nature Cure Hospital. The RuB is to be built at a cost of Rs 2.18 crore. The civic body officials have blamed the R&B authorities for not focussing their attention on “utility shifting” work. It is causing delay in completing the project, the GHMC officials said.

According to an official, even though the R&B authorities are supposed to shift the sewerage and water pipeline, electricity poles and underground cables to facilitate the construction of RuB. The proposed RuB will also affect as many as 20 structures and it requires several chunks of land for acquisition. Even the issue has been brought to the notice of R&B authorities, but they have been shifting the responsibility to the GHMC.

A senior GHMC official told The Hans India that the civic body has already submitted the general alignment drawing incorporating the drainage network to the South Central Railways. Responding to the drawing submitted by the GHMC, the SCR authorities have furnished detail estimates for the construction of 1x4metres x 2 metres precast reinforced cement concrete (RCC) box.

The official further said the GHMC has already approved Rs 2.18 crore for the construction of RuB. However, he said, the RuB between Begumpet to Nature Cure Hospital at Ameerpet has been delaying due to lack of interest on the part of the R&B Department. He said even though the GHMC acquires land and properties, the herculean task of utility shifting should be done by the R&B. Minister for Municipal Administration K Taraka Rama Rao, when the issue was taken to his notice, suggested that a meeting be held between the officials of the GHMC and R&B to sort out the problem.
