Parkal: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said that the State government was making committed efforts to improve the standards of technical education in the State. He said priority was being given to infrastructure development in Government Polytechnic Colleges across the State and added that in the past only 40 colleges had own buildings out of the 46 colleges. He called upon the students to make use of the facilities being provided to them.
After assuming power, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government had established 11 new polytechnic colleges and sanctioned Rs 225 crore for the construction of colleges. Similarly, Rs 21 crore was spent to equip the colleges with latest laboratories, Srihari added.
He along with Warangal MP P Dayakar and Parkal MLA Ch Dharma Reddy on Saturday inaugurated the newly constructed Government Polytechnic College hostel buildings for boys and girls at Parkal in Warangal rural district. The hostels were built with an expenditure of Rs 6.90 crore, he said.
Responding to a request by MLA Dharma Reddy, the Deputy Chief Minister announced that civil, mining and electrical engineering courses would be started from next academic year at the college, which at present was offering mechanical and electronic engineering courses.
Srihari further said the government was laying special focus on girls’ education and as part of which efforts were being made to upgrade Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) in the State to offer intermediate courses. Earlier on the day, Srihari inaugurated a Government Unani Hospital in the town.
MLA said that the government sanctioned Rs 110 crore for the development of Parkal assembly constituency. Development works worth Rs 21 crore were under progress in Parkal town and the works would be completed in the next one month.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister inspected the progress Mission Bhagiratha works at Singarajupalli in Damera mandal. He said steps were being taken to ensure water supply through taps to households in 155 habitations in the constituency by March 31.
ZP chairperson G Padma, Warangal rural district In-charge Collector M Haritha, Grandalaya Samstha chairman B Vinay Kumar, the district Farmers Coordination Committee convener B Buchanna, town municipality commissioner Rajabhadraiah and others were present.
