Khammam: Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) district president Dr S Papa Rao here on Monday demanded that the Central government to fulfil the promises given to the people belonging to tribal community at the time of bifurcation of the State. The leaders of the TJS submitted a memorandum to District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar here on the occasion of the Grievance Day in Khammam.

Speaking on the occasion, Papa Rao alleged that at the time of bifurcation of the State, keeping in view of more number of tribal people present in Khammam district, the Central government had made a promise for establishing a Tribal University in Khammam with Bhadrachalam as centre along with a Steel Plant in Bayyaram for providing employment opportunities for the unemployed tribal youth. But till date, the government did not fulfil the promise, he pointed out.

He demanded that the Central government fulfil all promises made along with establishing a study circle for tribal youth to provide employment opportunities. He urged the State government to take initiation and to exert pressure on the Central government for fulfilling the promises made to the tribal people. TJS district secretary Bhadru Naik, leaders J Ravi, Srinu D Veeranna and Nagaraju were present along with others.
