Union Minister for Water Resources Nitin Gadkari has ruled out according national project status for Kaleshwaram
Hyderabad: Union Minister for Water Resources Nitin Gadkari has ruled out according national project status for Kaleshwaram.
In a reply to a question in Lok Sabha on Thursday, Gadkari said that the Centre will not accord national project status to any irrigation project taken by states in the country in the future.
Cut to the quick with Minister’s refusal to accord national project status to Kaleshwaram, TRS MP B Vinod Kumar shot off a letter to the minister reiterating TRS’s stand for grant of national status to either Kaleshwaram or Palamuru Ranga Reddy lift irrigation projects.
The MP pointed out that the Centre made the promise of national project status for Kaleshwaram at the time of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. He demanded that Gadkari fulfill the promise since it was pending before the Centre for the last four years.
Vinod also expressed anger for not giving him opportunity to raise the issue of Kaleshwaram after the Union minister stated the Centre’s stand on national status to the new projects.
