Khammam: Johnson Kids School in Khammam on Tuesday organised eco- friendly Ganesh idol making workshop at its campus. Assistant Commissioner of Police Venkat Rao who attended the event as the chief guest, appealed to the people to install Ganesh idols made of clay during the Ganesh festival for protecting the environment.

The ACP said, “in the past many people used Ganesh idols made of clay which was considered to be eco-friendly. But in recent times due to advancement in science and technology and changing life styles, the people began to use Ganesh idols made of plaster of paris and various other chemicals which pollute environment along with valuable natural resources like water and soil.”

Interacting with the students, the ACP Vekatrao suggested them to use Ganesh idols which they are prepared in their homes during Ganesh Chaturthi festival and asked them to create awareness among their neighbours about it, he said.

The students participated actively in the workshop and enjoyed a lot in preparing the eco-friendly Ganesh idols under the supervision of famous artisan L Laxman Rao.
