Chilukur ( Suryapet): Tension prevailed when beneficiaries of 2 BHK houses occupied their allocated houses by breaking the locks located at Sitarampuram village in Chilukur mandal of Suryapet district in wee hours of Friday.

The remaining 16 eligible, who are in second list expressing their anger reached the spot and entered into quarrel with occupants and staged dharna to do justice to them.

As per the official information, after scrutiny and other formalities, officials identified 56 persons eligible for 2 BHK houses sanctioned at Sitarampuram. After construction of 40 houses, officials allocated the houses to beneficiaries through lottery system.

Expressing their anger, the remaining 16 eligible staged protest demonstration and few attempted suicide before RDO and Collector offices for justice. The Collector ordered probe over the allegations of the protestors. Further, the Collector assured them allocation of 2 BHK houses in the second phase without fail.

Doubting the Collector’s assurance, the remaining sixteen eligibles knocked the doors of court in the name of irregularities in allocation of houses in Sitarampuram. The court issued notices to the officials concerned for clarification.

Meanwhile, beneficiaries who got 2 BHK houses in lottery had been visiting government offices for three months requesting officials to handover the houses officially but in vain.

Beneficiaries who lost their patience have broken the locks of houses and occupied them in wee hours of Friday. On receiving information, officials and police rushed to the spot to counsel both occupants and others but in vain.

The officials concerned said that they bring the matter to the notice of the Collector for future course of action. The officials further informed that land was purchased for the construction for remaining 16 beneficiaries and it is in tender stage.
