Trainee IFS officers visit Nehru Zoo

Bahadurpura: As part of their education tour to South India, 80 Indian Forest Service (IFS) trainee officers of 2017 batch, and one faculty member from Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun, visited Nehru Zoological Park on Tuesday.

The officers were received by Syed Maqsood Mohiuddin, Assistant Conservator of Forests, at the bioscope auditorium.

The trainees watched the orientation film on the zoo. N Kshitija, Curator, explained the officers about the role of zoological parks in conservation of wildlife, particularly endangered species.

The trainees were told about the significant developments that took place in the zoo, and the role played by Nehru Zoological Park in conservation breeding, animal health care, and wildlife education.

The trainees then were taken around the zoo to show them the design of enclosures, night houses, and the planning and display of various groups of animals.

The trainees also visited Veterinary Hospital. Dr M A Hakeem, Deputy Director (Vet) and Dr. Syed Abdul Asadullah gave a brief lecture and demo on tranquilizing the wild animals.

The trainees and faculty appreciated the hospitality extended by the officials. They said that they enjoyed the clean and green environment of the zoo.
