Kothagudem: Since very beginning, the TRS government has been giving priority to the education of Muslim children, said Dy.CM Mohammed Mahmood Ali during a meeting in the city on Tuesday.
He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao with an objective of achieving development of all communities, especially minorities and marginalised sections, wanted to offer quality education to the children in those communities.
Ali toured Kothagudem Assembly constituency and addressed Atmeeya Sammelanam organised by TRS minority wing at Kothagudem and Paloncha seeking support for the party nominee JalagamVenkat Rao.
Addressing the gatherings the Dy CM noted CM Chandrashekar Rao sanctioned about 204 minorities residential schools in 31 districts of Telangana apart from two residential junior colleges.
'It is an important initiative to ensure educational opportunities to economically backward minorities children. No other State in the country has done so much, Ali added.
As many as 53,000 students are already studying in the minority residential schools and colleges, he said while revealing that 300 more residential schools for minorities would be opened in future.
"Of the 31 District Collectors, Syed Omer Jaleel is the only Muslim IAS officer in the State. In order to address shortage of Muslim IAS and IPS officers, civil services training is being given to 700 minority students" Ali pointed out.
He accused Congress and TDP governments of turning minorities academically backward. However, the TRS government led by the CM KCR has taken remedial measures. As many 1300 overseas scholarships are given allowing minority students.
Ali wanted the minority communities to support the TRS nominees in the ensuing Assembly elections so that KCR would become the CM again to continue the ongoing welfare programmes. TRS leader N Naresh Reddy, District Library chairman D Rajender and others were present.
