Khammam: No more people have to worry about the lawmaker because of whom they have been facing immense problems, the Maha Kutami (Grand Alliance)’s Telugu Desam candidate for Khammam Assembly constituency Nama Nageswara Rao said.
Speaking to media persons here on Friday, he expressed confidence that Grand Alliance is set for a massive win in the State as the people are fed up with the TRS Government.
“The TRS leadership never honoured the aspirations of the people. It diluted the very concept of separate Telangana Movement - ‘Neellu, nidhulu and niyamakalu’. Very often KCR used to say that we have adequate water source required for both the States before the bifurcation. Now he is trying to cover his failures by blaming the neighbouring State,” Rao said.
He said that Telangana is a revenue-surplus State due to the efforts of erstwhile governments - TDP and Congress. Despite this the TRS government failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people. In last four-and-a-half-year, the government made no effort to create employment opportunities or which the unemployed youth is thirsting for, he added.
Responding to a question, Rao said that there is no truth in TRS leaders’ campaign that TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu was trying to stall the irrigation projects in Telangana. In fact, Naidu supported separate Telangana and I am the first one to support the AP Reorganisation Act-2014 bill in Lok Sabha, he recalled.
He defended TDP’s alliance with the Congress saying that time has come for the political parties to change in accordance with the people’s aspirations. Despite the ideological differences, the need for TDP-Congress alliance has arrived and people are accepting it, he said.
Talking on political situation in Khammam, he said that TRS legislator had tried to throttle the voice of the people. “So far people had witnessed the highhandedness of the TRS legislator, and no more they have to face such a situation as the Maha Kutami is going to sweep the elections,” former Lok Sabha member said.
Referring to TRS candidate’s campaign against him, Nama Nageswara Rao said that people in Khammam are aware of who is who. “It’s me who first established granite industry in Khammam some three decades ago.
Later, I rejuvenated the sugar factory that fell sick. As the member of Lok Sabha, I almost visited every village in the constituency. During my stint as the MP, I was able to bring a lot of funds for the constituency development,” Rao said.
Responding to a query, he said that he spoke to senior CPI leader Puvvada Nageswara Rao and invited him for the campaigning. It may be mentioned here that Puvvada Nageswara Rao is father of TRS candidate Ajay Kumar.
“All the alliance partners – TDP, Congress, Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) and CPI – who are hellbent on unseating the TRS government will join him in the electioneering,” Nama Nageswara Rao said, referring to the huge rally when he arrived in Khammam on Wednesday (November 14).
Never before in Khammam history, people in large numbers voluntarily participated like that, he said, pointing to the support Maha Kutami is commanding. TDP Khammam district president Tulluri Brahmaiah and Palair constituency in-charge MB Swarna Kumari were among others present.
