Khammam: The process of appointing Presiding officers and poling officials to facilitate smooth conduct of elections in the district on December 7, according to District Collector R V Karnan here on Thursday.

The Collector along with the Bhadradri Kothagudem District Collector Rajat Kumar Saini were presiding over a meeting attended by Presiding Officers and poling officials here.

Speaking at the meeting, Karnan said as many as 1,691 Presiding Officers, 1,524 Assistant Presiding Officers and 3,246 poling staff were drafted for polls.

In Bhadradri Kothagudem district, a total of 1,293 Presiding Officers, 1,322 Assistant Presiding Officers and 3,017 poling staff would be deployed along with 386 micro observers for conducting poling. Only women staff would be deployed in three polling stations in which women voters outnumbered men, said the Collector.

Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal, Assistant Collector Hanumanthu Kodimba, In-charge District Revenue Madan Gopal, District Education Officers of Khammam Madan Mohan and Bhadradri Kothagudem District Vasathi, N.I.C.D.I Technical Director B Ravi Kumar and N.I.C.D.I officer Kiran were present.
