Malakpet: The e-library and park has turned into a favourite place for youth after the GHMC started providing free wi-fi recently.

The provision has not only witnessed increase in number of visitors at e-library and at the Shoeb Memorial Park in Malakpet, but found nearby residents catching hold of wavelength.

For the first time in Old City, the residents are happy that the GHMC has provided free wi-fi hotspot at Shoeb Memorial Park and e-library in New Malakpet under Malakpet constituency.

Many a students and working men started visiting the e-library and a free wi-fi is helping them for any reference online. “Ever since the free wi-fi has been launched the number of visitors at library has gone up.

Many students come here for studies and avail the provision”, said Mohammed Imtiyaz Yousuf, President Shoeb Memorial e-library.

While speaking to The Hans India, corporator Mohammed Saifuddin Shafi said that on the representation of AIMIM MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala, the free wi-fi connectivity at Shoeb Memorial Park and e-Library have been provided.

He also said that to modernize the colony, MLA was coming up with many representations for the benefit of the residents. Apart from locations like historic and public importance, for the first time in Old City the residential area is being providing with free wi-fi in Malakpet constituency.

“Three wi-fi hotspots were installed last week by GHMC. A total of six wi-fi hotspots have been sanctioned in New Malakpet division. Three more will be installed soon.

These hotspots were installed in the Park and e-library, football ground, basketball ground in the Malakpet division. The wi-fi is installed in park and e-library, but the frequency of the wi-fi is also helping locals to enjoy the facility. Residents can avail it for 45 minutes with a log-in by e-mail or a mobile number”, he said.

“Earlier, in the library there was no internet connection. We were using mobile data or used to share hotspot from others for information from online.

Since the free wi-fi provision is available now we can use it for any referring important subjects online”, said Mohammed Ayaz, a degree student.
