Mahbubnagar: With an aim to provide better security and to ensure that the students share their problems and issues being faced in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas with the officials, the school education department has installed wireless phones across in all 65 KGBV schools and newly-established English medium schools in the district.

Already the installation process has begun in majority KGBVs and those schools which have not installed are fast installing the wireless phone sets. The authorities have asked the students to share any kind of information with them including information related to fire accidents in the schools using the wireless phones.

The phones have been fixed at such places where there is no CCTV surveillance. The decision to install the phones have been taken following complaints like remote location of the schools, lack of night time security etc. The Sarva Siksha Abhiyan officials have taken up steps like CCTV surveillance and construction of boundary walls around all the schools following these reports.

They have now equipped all the schools with wireless phones. Each phone has cost Rs 4,000. Commenting on the initiative, the District Sectorial Officer Asra Khadri said that they had taken up the initiative to solve the problems faced by the students of the schools.

“The phones have some direct linked numbers. If the students call from the phone, the phone call would be received directly by the state authorities of the SSA call centre. The staff of the call centre would record the complaints of students and issue instructions to the officials concerned for their redressal,” she said.
