Vikarabad: As many as 500 Anganwadi students will be provided nutritional food, said District Collector Syed Omer Jaleel. He was addressing a district women federation meeting at Stri Shakti Bhavan here on Friday.Jaleel said that welfare hostel students and government school children would be supplied nutritional food made of millets. He said that as many as 1,800 women farmers came forward to cultivate millet crop. Jaleel said that the farmers cultivated finger millets and minimum support price (MSP) will be given to them.
The Collector said that they were lending a helping hand to farmers to cultivate different kinds of millet crops.MLA Metuku Anand advised farmers to cultivate millets and encourage consumption of millets and also, they were preparing plans to purchase the crop. The MLA said people were suffering from many illnesses due to lack of nutritional food.
He said the government was taking all measures to purchase the crop. Anand directed officials concerned to avoid irregularities during weighing of the crop and purchasing it.DRDO Johnson, GM industries Vinay Kumar, MPP Bhagyalaxmi, women federation president Indira, mandal agriculture officials, farmers and others were present.
