Vikarabad: TSRTC officials are making arrangements to set up a mini theatre at Vikarabad RTC bus stand. Earlier, officials had decided to utilise the space behind the bus stand for the proposed venture. The RTC, which is looking at means and ways to generate revenues, has come up with this innovative idea. They are planning to set up mini theatres and petrol pumps at bus stands, based on the space available and the demand for such services.

Officials are planning to set up the theatres at 20 bus stands in the first phase. Vikarabad is one among them. As the town is bustling with traffic, teeming college going students and travellers, officials zeroed in on the place to set up a threatre. They plan to release a notification in this regard soon. The vacant place will be leased out to private people to set up the theatre for a specific lease period.

RTC is also planning to set up petrol pumps at Marpalli, Mominpet and Tharuru bus stands. The space needed for petrol pumps is lying vacant at these bus stands. Hence, leasing the land out to private people will benefit the corporation, the officials feel. It is learned that a notification will be released once higher officials will give their nod for the proposal.

Officials are also planning to sell diesel through Vikarabad RTC depot petrol pump. They reckon income obtained from mini theatres and petrol pumps may bail out the RTC, which is reeling under distress.Depot Manager Hari said that tenders will be called soon after higher officials okay the proposals.
