Musheerabad: Members of BC Welfare Association led by its national president R Krishnaiah met YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy at his Lotus Pond residence on Sunday and sought his support for introduction of BC Bill in the Parliament. R Krishnaiah said that despite constituting more than 50 per cent of total population, BCs have remained politically backward and do not have proper representation in many fields.
He expressed his anguish that BC candidates were finding it difficult to win elections due to the excessive influence of money in elections. BC reservation could help increase BC representation in legislature, he opined. He said that there was a need to amend the constitution to provide BC reservation in promotions as well. BC reservation should be increased from the current 34 per cent to 50 per cent and a law should be formulated to give constitutional validity to reservations.
An appeal has been made to Jagan to include their demands in the party manifesto for the upcoming Parliament and AP assembly elections, for which he has responded positively, Krishnaiah said.BC team which met the YSCP leader includes Gujja Krishna, E Sathyanarayana, Neela Venkatesh, Dasu Suresh, Bojja Ramesh, Bullet Ramesh, Rajender, Gurram Srinivas, Sagar, Vemula Ramakrishna, TR Chander, Naresh Goud, Athaiah and others.
