Kapra: The dharna for potable water by the leaders of joint action committee (JAC) reached the second day in Netaji Nagar of Nagaram gram panchayat on Monday.

Under the leadership of JAC representatives Keshava Reddy and Redya Naik, the residents registered their protest with empty utensils. According to them, the people belonged to the gram panchayat facing acute shortage of water past few days. They said as the panchayat sarpanch, village secretary were least bothered about their difficulties, residents of the 108 colonies under the panchayat organised protest rallies at Satyanarayana Colony and Nehru Nagar Colony and conducted dharna at the water tank recently. There was no proper water supply to the Nagaram for the past one year, they lamented.

The residents of various colonies said there was no fund crunch to the panchayat with higher tax charges compared to the GHMC but there was no water supply. They said that most of the bore wells dried up and private water tankers were responding two days after the booking. Women complained of skin related problems due to the tanker water. The panchayat people urged the officials concerned to supply the water at the earliest. JAC leaders Suresh, Seshagirirao Naidu, Umashankar Goud, Konda Janga Reddy, Srinivas Rao and Vittal Reddy were present.
