Osmania University: A Women’s Safety Wing of the police department is being launched on Friday, the International Women’s Day, by Nizamabad MP K Kavitha.

This was announced on Thursday by West Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police B Sumathi while addressing the International Women’s Day celebrations in Osmania University under the auspices of the Women’s Empowerment Cell in Room no 57, Arts College.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest DCP advised girl students to move ahead with confidence in competitive world putting aside thoughts of ‘I can’t do’ in any aspect. Sumathi stated that SHE Teams were available for the protection of women in the State. She underlined the importance of women enjoying freedom and liberty as their counterparts in the west do, even while pointing out that there were more cases of murder and harassment against women in the country.

Sumathi said every woman should be able to give a sense of confidence to her family. She later felicitated the guests who attended the function.

Among those present were Arts College vice principal B Vijaya, OSD Krishna Rao, Prof. Lakshmi, Women’s Empowerment convener Prof. Surya Dhananjay, teaching and non-teaching staff.
