expertVisakhapatnam: Young human resource is a major competitive advantage to Indian organisations when compared to developed nations, said Prof. AVS Rao of University of Ottawa, Canada, while addressing a national seminar on 'Employee Engagement for Organisational Excellence' organised by Gitam Institute of Management here on Friday. Prof. Rao said focus should be on primary education to get quality human resource in future. He explained the employee engagement in armed forces and Roman Catholic Church and said women managers were better performers when compared with men. Quantum Clothing India Pvt. Ltd general manager Ian Ross said that without employee engagement organisations cannot perform well. Institute of Management principal Prof. K Sivaramakrishna said that engagement was the barometer that determines the association of a person with the organisation, particularly how emotionally and psychologically he was connected to the organisation during role performance. Seminar convenor Prof. G Raghavaiah said that the concept of employee engagement was influenced by workplace culture, managerial styles to trust and respect, leadership and company reputation. He said engaged employees were committed and fascinated by their work and cared about the future of the organisation. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. D Harinarayana presided over the function.
