Visakhapatnam: The children of S Rayavaram Zilla Parishad High School enthralled the audience, officials and others at the Independence Day celebrations at the Police Parade Grounds with their unique and daring feats depicting patriotism here on Thursday under the guidance of physical education teacher Madhav. The audience and officials lauded the talent of the boys, who hail from rural area, and complimented the PET for imparting training to them.


Gangavaram Port: The Independence Day was celebrated at the Gangavaram Port on Thursday in which officials, employees and other staff participated with utmost devotion and patriotism. Port Senior Vice President (RR & Security) K Raja Ratnam Naidu hoisted the National Flag. Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the employees and workers to work with commitment to reach annual targets as ports are playing a major role in nation-building. Paying tributes to freedom fighters and those, who laid down their lives for the country, he emphasised the need for peace, tranquillity, unity and integrity to ensure prosperity of the nation.


Gitam University: Vice Chancellor Prof G Subrahmanyam unfurled the National Flag on the university grounds on Thursday. Addressing the students and staff, the VC asked to inculcate the spirit of patriotism to further strengthen the nation. He informed that the university is giving priority for nano-technology, bio-technology, rural and urban development and added that Bengaluru Gitam University Campus started functioning. Registrar Prof M Potharaju and others participated.


Good Shepherd International School, Anakapalli: The Independence Day was celebrated at Good Shepherd International School in Anakapalli on Thursday and the students took out a massive rally carrying 1,000 feet long National Flag. Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao who participated in the rally, complimented the school director Vinayanand for organising such a patriotic rally. Local DSP V S R Murthy earlier hoisted the National Flag.


ITDA, Paderu: Additional Joint Collector and In-charge Project Officer of ITDA Y Narasimha Rao hoisted the National Flag in Paderu at CAH School grounds. Addressing the gathering, he said that 115 primary schools were opened in the Agency this year and under the SC, ST Sub-Plan, a sum of Rs one crore has been sanctioned to construct the new office building for ITDA, Rs three crore for staff quarters and Rs 50 lakh for the training centre. Besides, to construct office accommodation for ATWs in all scheduled mandals, a sum of Rs 15 lakh each has been sanctioned.
