Peddapalli: As part of World Space Week (WSW) celebrations, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is organising various programmes for the school children of united Karimnagar district with a view to create awareness and interest on science and technology, particularly ‘space exploration missions in the world’.

District Education Officer (DEO) D Venkateshwar Rao along with the Deputy Manager of CSR department, NTPC, E Jeevan Raj, released a poster of ‘World Space Week Celebrations’ here on Tuesday. The programme will be organised by Satish Dhawan Space Centre of Srihari Kota at NTPC Employment Development Centre here on October 8 and 9.

Speaking on the occasion, the DEO said that the ISRO will organise several programmes as part of ISRO Space Week, which is observed from October 4 to 10 every year, for creating awareness among the school children on space exploration and on the success that ISRO had achieved in recent years.

He urged the school children and also engineering students to enroll their names for participating in drawing, quiz in written form and science exhibition competitions on the topic ‘Space Science and Technology, Rocketry, Satellite and Interplanetary Missions’.

Prizes will be given to the best performances at the time of the closing ceremony. He told that students, teachers and common people, who are interested to attend the science exhibition, must bring one photo identity card.

DEO Venkateshwar Rao urged all the students of united Karimnagar district to utilise this golden opportunity to gain the knowledge on space exploration and the development that is taking place in science and technology.

Sectoral officer J Padma, District Science Officer B Ravinandan Rao and DCEB Joint Secretary B Rajender were present along with others.
