Jagtial: District Collector Dr A Sharath ordered the Task Force officials to ensure that no child below the age 18 years shall be employed as labourers, during a meeting here on Tuesday. He discussed with the officials about the prevention of child labour in the district. The officials were directed to conduct vigorous inspections at various working places in the district to prevent child labour and also told to submit a report for every 15 days.

Child labourers are a common sight, especially in hotels, quarries and brick kilns. As many as 104 children were identified working by conducting meeting with employment unions. The Collector told the officials to take necessary action against the owners, who employ children, after conducting sudden inspections.

The officials were suggested to establish temporary schools for children of the labourers, who work in quarries and in the construction of double bedroom houses. Sharath told to run ‘children home’ for infants under Women and Child Welfare department.

Metpalli Sub-Collector Musharaf Farooqi, District Revenue Officer Shyam Prakash, District Education Officer Venkateshwarlu, District Medical and Health Officer Dr Sugandini and Joint Commissioner of Labour department A Satyanarayana were present along with other district officials.
