Warangal: The Warangal Mayor Nannapaneni Narender asked the farmers need to adopt modern cropping technologies here on Friday.

Speaking at a training programme organised for the chilli and turmeric cultivators at the Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) here on Friday, he said that it’s time for the farmers to adopt modern farming methods to get higher yields.

“The emergence of e-Spice Bazar, the direct online marketing platform, is of immense help to farmers as it avoids middlemen,” the Mayor said.

Spice Board deputy director Dr G Lingappa explained the benefits extended by the Spice board. “Make use of subsidy benefits,” he told the chilli and turmeric growers, explaining various schemes available for them.

He also explained about the grading and marketing system of the e-Spice Bazar. Spice Board deputy director of Guntur PSS Thampi also spoke.

It’s learnt that the Pothana Educational Society is extending support to chilli and turmeric farmers belonging to 130 villages in the region.

The RARS scientists A Venkat Reddy and A Vijay Bhaskar and A Jaganmohan Rao and district horticulture officer P Sunitha were among others present.
