Gopanna’s life in danger: CPI
The activists of CPI (ML) New Democracy (Rayala Faction) took out a protest rally in the town demanding to produce the party leader Dhanasari Sammaiah alias Gopanna, arrested by police, in the court. Mahabubabad: The activists of CPI (ML) New Democracy (Rayala Faction) took out a protest rally in the town demanding to produce the party leader Dhanasari Sammaiah alias Gopanna, arrested by police, in the court. It was said that the district police have on Thursday raided a house in Rajiv Nagar Colony in the town during afternoon hours. But Gopanna escaped from the house. But the police have launched an intensive combing operation and caught him at Kothur village in Mahabubabad mandal during evening hours.
The police were said to have taken his wife Nagamani and another person during the raid at the colony. Following the arrest of Gopanna, a large group of New Democracy activists have taken out a protest rally demanding to produce him before the court of law immediately. Speaking to The Hans India, the party Mahabubabad regional committee member and Bayyaram ZPTC G Ilaiah feared that there was threat to the life of Gopanna from the police.
Gopanna who was an underground activist of the party for the past thirty years is serving as the party state committee member and district committee secretary. The police some time back have recovered his arms during a raid on an arms dump at Gundratimadugu in the district.
Since he was ailing for the past four months he visited the town to get treatment. The police should not cause any harm to his life and ensure medical treatment to him, Ilaiah demanded.
