Warangal: A ‘Mega multi-specialty health camp’ organised under the aegis of Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Warangal chapter here on Tuesday, received immense response from the public.

More than 2,500 patients from 15 villages of Damera and Atmakur mandals turned at the health camp conducted in association with Power Grid Corporation Corporation of India Limited at Oglapur of Damera mandal in Warangal Rural district.

Speaking after inaugurating the camp, Parkal MLA Ch Dharma Reddy lauded the IRCS and Power Grid Corporation for their initiative of conducting the health camp for the benefit of rural masses. The patients due to poverty and elderly persons abandoned by children often could not get proper medical care and the camps like this would help them a lot, he said.

The IRCS chairman Dr P Vijay Chander Reddy and the society state managing committee member EV Srinivas Rao informed that prior to the medical camp volunteers were engaged to make door-to-door visits in the above villages to prepare list of patients and their ailments.

The patients were given slips enabling them to directly go a related specialist for speedy diagnosis and distribution of free medicines. The measure has also saved a lot of time on preliminary tests and helped doctors to attend to large number of patients, they explained.

In all, 18 counters were set up, where 59 doctors of general medicine, 19 super specialists, 40 para medical staff and pharmacists 20 led by IMA district president Dr Madishetty Sudeep have offered their services during the camp.

All the patients eligible for treatment under Arogya Sri were referred to specialist hospitals for further treatment. More than three lakh rupees of medicines were distributed and the patients and their attendants were provided free lunch at the venue, said treasurer M Nagaiah and MC member P Srinivas Rao.

DMHO Dr Venkata Ramana, ACP Surender, Power Grid assistant GM K Anjaneyulu, deputy manager Kiran Kumar, IRCS state AO G Koti Reddy, its district vice-chairman Dr K Sudhakar Reddy, managing committee (MC) members B Papi Reddy, P Venkat Narayana, Ch Jaya Shree, K Anitha Reddy medical officers S Ram Kishan and G Prabhakar Rao were present.
