Warangal: National Cadet Corps (NCC) should have a good command over English to get recruited in officer cadre in Indian Army, suggested the NCC Directorate (AP & Telangana), Deputy Director General (DDG), Air Commodore, Nukala Narendar Reddy.

He was on a two-day visit to NCC Group Headquarters, Warangal. He addressed the cadets at a conference at LB College in Warangal on Tuesday and visited Mamnoor Airfields and the land earmarked for NCC at Hasanparthy on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday.

At the conference at LB College, Narender Reddy wanted NCC cadets to engage in social service activities and be a role model for the youth. NCC, the largest uniformed youth organisation serves as India’s backbone producing patriotic, well trained, motivated and disciplined human resource, he said.

NCC trains youth in leadership skills to serve the nation regardless of career they choose and ensures an environment that motivates youth to join the armed forces. NCC cadets have settled in top positions in government and private sector also excelled as entrepreneurs.

Command over English helps the cadets to perform well in the selection process of Service Selection Board (SSB) in the recruitment of officer cadre, he explained. He emphasised on the need of focused training to cadets.

The Deputy DG lauded the NCC, Warangal, which was established in the year 1964 and since then was at top place in the State in all its activities. He interacted with cadets, who took part in this year’s Republic Day parade in New Delhi and told them to join army.

At a meeting at NCC Group Headquarters located in Hanamkonda, the Group Commander Colonel Rajinish Kapoor briefed the Deputy DG on various activities conducted by Warangal Group NCC during previous year.

The Deputy DG addressed officers, staff and lauded their hard work with which they excelled at directorate and national levels. He appreciated 4(T) Air Squadron team of Warangal Group for starting flying last year and maintaining Mamnoor Airfield in serviceable condition. Air Commodore, Narendar Reddy also visited Bhadrakali Temple on Wednesday.
