Warangal: The State Government is committed for the welfare of the poor, said district In-Charge Minister Ramreddy Venkat Reddy.A The recently launched 'Amma Hastam' programme was an example of such commitment of the government, the Minister said. With the same dedication for helping the poor, a unique way, Re 1 per kg rice scheme was launched in Andhra Pradesh, he noted.
He released the posters and pamphlets of 'Amma Hastam' programme here on Tuesday. The government has launched the programme with an intention to help the poor people. A He informed that the commodities would be distributed at fair price shops in a bag. The Amma Hastam programme would help the poorest of the poor to secure nine essential commodities at Rs 185 per month, he explained. .
Referring to damage caused by hailstorms in Vardhannapet, Rayaparthy, Dharmasagar and other mandals on Monday, the minister said that a meeting was scheduled with the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday. The sudden hailstorms have damaged crops in an extent of 8,650 hectares in eight mandals of the district. There was heavy loss of crops like mango orchards in Palakurthy, Wardhannapet, Parvathagiri, Rayaparthi and Dharmasagar mandals.
"The damage will be compensated cent percent. Farmers will be paid Rs 10,000 per hectare of damage of crop," minister Venkat Reddy said adding the compensation for damage suffered by the farmers due to Neelam cyclone was ready and soon it would be handed over to them.A The family members of the person called U Yadagiri would be given proper compensation from Home Ministers' Relief Fund, he said. Wardhannapet MLA K Sridhar, in-charge collector P S Pradyumna and other officials were present.
